Day 1: Fighting Through Fear

Before we can launch into our adventure, we need to make some preparations. Your first preparation activity is to define the gap that you currently feel.

Listen to the audio, then do the journaling activity below.

Machu Picchu holds a very special place in my memory, not simply because it’s an incredible place to be but because of the decisions I had to make to get there.

I first travelled to Peru in 2016 when a girlfriend propositioned me about six weeks before she got on the plane.

At the time, I was knee-deep in the business that I’d been running for 15 years. I was incredibly stressed.

The sheer thought of taking three weeks out from my business and the amount of work involved to make that happen made it feel impossible.

Six weeks later, I got on that plane, having worked through a very long list of fears. It was then I came to realize that my ability to take on the adventures that I do isn’t a result of the opportunities or my capabilities.

It’s the result of my ability to work with fear, my ability to move beyond its limitations.

I’ve created the Go-Getters Compass because I want you to have those same skills.

During the next 30 days, that’s what you’re going to be learning.

Now journal…

Fear has a way of creating a big gap in our lives, or at least, it feels that way.  It is the gap between who we are right now and who we think we are meant to be.

That gap can get so wide and deep that it feels like we are stuck in a black hole with no hope of escape. You constantly struggling to climb your way out of it. You wage war on your self-doubt and fears. You try every method around, and just as you start to make progress, your fingers slip on the side, and you plummet to the bottom again.

I totally sympathise with Sisyphus.

During this adventure, we are going to give up that struggle to conquer self-doubt. Yep, we are going to stop the fight, and instead, we are going to get rid of the black hole.

But before we can launch into our adventure, we need to make some preparations.

Your first preparation activity is to define the gap that you currently feel.

Write in your journal and answer this question:

What is it you’re not doing with your life?

Write for 10 minutes non-stop. Go!
