Day 27: Micro-Steps of Progress

Every day gives opportunities to make those micro-steps of progress, regardless of your circumstances.

Listen to the audio, then do the journaling activity below.

Somewhere about now, most people jot down a plan to achieve their Personal Mission, print it off and stick it on the wall or relegate it to the back of their diary. That’s because it’s something they see occurring in their future when they have the resources to make it happen, whether that’s time, freedom or money.

Most wild ideas treated this way will never come to fruition because the time will never be right.

As I mentioned in today’s recording, you will achieve your big goals and wild ideas by taking one tiny step at a time. Every day gives opportunities to make those micro-steps of progress, regardless of your circumstances.

Some of my micro-steps of progress are:

  • Adjusting the way I do something
  • Thinking about my current and preferred behaviour
  • Seeking out someone who can be a guiding light
  • Reading a blog post or similar
  • Practising a skill
  • Listening to a podcast
  • Asking a question
  • Writing a draft
  • Holding a conversation
  • Talking to people about my mission

Today’s Journaling Prompt

Brainstorm a list of 15 ways to take micro-steps of progress to achieve your mission. Use my list above as a starting point, if you like.

Then…

Each day, record the micro-steps of progress undertaken in your journal. Challenge yourself to do at least one each day.

You will blow your mind in six months when you flick back through the pages and see just how far you have come.
